RANGE SAFETY RULES

 


GENERAL RULES


 

All shooters and guests must read LRGI’s Range Safety Rules and sign the liability waiver certification at the bottom of this document before entering or using the indoor shooting range.

WARNING: This is a “hot” range which means firing can commence at any time.

 

 

Patrons are responsible for safeguarding their own possessions. LRGI is not responsible for lost, misplaced or stolen articles.

All shooting range users, including walk-ins, must use safety chamber flags in all firearms transported to and from outside the building and the firing line for all firearms that are not cased.

Uncase your firearms at the firing line only.

Recase your firearms at the firing line before leaving the range.

The Range Safety Officer (RSO) is in charge. The RSO is authorized to remove any shooter whose behavior is detrimental to the safe operations of the range.

 

 

Commands and instructions issued by the RSO are to be followed immediately.

 

Eye and ear protection must be donned before entering the indoor range and must be worn at all times while in the range.

 

Any Patron observing unsafe behavior in the shooting range shall immediately notify the RSO.

 

No one under or suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be allowed on the range.

 

First -time and inexperienced shooters are requested to identify themselves to the Range Safety Officer (RSO) for a short safety briefing to ensure the safety of yourself and those around you.

 

LRGI members hosting an inexperienced or first-time shooter / guest are requested to identify themselves to the Range Safety Officer.

 

No more than two people are allowed to share a lane. Only one person may shoot at any time.

 

 

If you must leave the firing line temporarily, lay the unloaded firearm on the firing line shelf with the action open and the muzzle pointing down range.

Drawing from a holster and firing is prohibited. Lying down and shooting is also prohibited.

 

Rapid Fire is NOT allowed. Allow at least one full second between shots. Double taps (only) are permitted.

All firearms handling must take place within the confines of the assigned shooting booth.

 

All firing from within the shooting booth must be aimed fire.

 

If you have a malfunction or a jam that you cannot clear:

  • Keep firearm pointed downrange
  • If possible, engage the safety on the firearm
  • Place the firearm on the bench
  • Notify the Range Safety Officer (RSO) that you have a problem
  • Do not attempt to correct it yourself

 

Never remove a jammed or malfunctioning firearm from the range without prior approval from the Range Safety Officer. If you have a malfunction or a jam that you cannot clear, put the firearm on the bench while keeping the muzzle pointed downrange, and ask the Range Safety Officer for assistance.

Due to environmental factors and in the best interest of pregnant women and their unborn child, pregnant women cannot use the shooting range.

 

When the firing line is declared “Cold”:

  • All firearms must be unloaded and benched/grounded, with the muzzle pointed down range, the action open, the ejection port/cylinder up and the magazine removed.
  • Everyone must step back from the firing line, behind the shooting booth.
  • No firearm may be handled while the line is “cold”.                                             

 

Shooters are NOT permitted to clean firearms on LRGI premises. Guns may be surrendered to LRGI for cleaning.

 

Always wash your hands and face immediately after shooting. Sinks are located in the airlock and restrooms.

Food, beverages, and smoking are prohibited on the range. This is an OSHA regulation.


AGE REQUIREMENTS


  • No child younger than 11 years of age may shoot unless they have completed the NRA First Step Rifle Course. 

  • Shooters aged 11-13 may only shoot .22 rifle and must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian..

  • Shooters aged 13-18 shooting a handgun must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian 

  • Shooters aged 13-18 shooting a long gun must be accompanied by an adult 21 years or older.

  • Shooters aged 18-21 shooting a handgun must be accompanied by an adult 21 years or older.

AMMUNITION


Tracer, armor piercing, steel core, and frangible ammunition are prohibited.

 

The use of hand-reload ammunition is prohibited due to liability and insurance cost. This policy is under review by our insurers.

 

Shooters must present  ammunition not purchased at LRGI to the RSO for inspection before use. 

 

FIREARMS

 

Always treat a firearm as if it was loaded.

 

Always keep the firearm pointed in a safe direction….down range.

 

Never hand a loaded firearm to another person. Personally inspect the firearm and visually confirm that it is unloaded before doing so.

 

When someone hands you a gun, assume it is loaded and visually confirm that it is unloaded.

 

Always keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target and you are ready to shoot.

 

Be sure of your target and what is around and beyond it.

 

When unloading a firearm,

  • Keep firearms pointed in safe direction
  • Remove the magazine
  • Lock the slide back or action open.
  • If you will be leaving the range with an uncased firearm, insert a safety chamber flag or zip tie providing a visual indication that the gun is safe before leaving the firing line (cannot be fired).

While in the Shooting Range, firearms must be cased or holstered (law enforcement only). Rental revolvers without holsters or case must be carried by the top strap, with the cylinder open.

 

Open Chamber Flags (zip-ties) are to be inserted in all uncased firearms moving to and from the firing line.

 

Classroom

 

Safe gun handling procedures are to be followed at all times in the classroom.

 

No live ammunition is permitted in the classroom.






LIABILITY WAIVER: It is expressly agreed that all use of the LRGI Indoor Shooting Range facility shall be used by You and your Guest(s) at your own risk. Last Resort Guns Inc shall not be liable for any injuries or damage to You or your Guest, or to your property or of any Guest, or be subject to any claim, demand, injury, or damages whatever, including without any limitations, those damages resulting from acts of active or passive negligence on the part of LRGI, its successors or assigns, as well as, its officers, employees, or agents, for all such claims, demands, injuries, damages, actions or causes of action. It is especially agreed that LRGI or its employees shall not be responsible or liable to You or your Guests for articles lost or stolen in or on the premises. LRGI also shall not be responsible or liable for loss or damage to any other property of You or of your guests, including automobiles and contents. It is also agreed that any damages to the LRGI facilities or property, or to the property of any member by another member or his / her Guest, is the sole responsibility of the offending member. You agree that You are responsible for any damages caused by You to the facilities and for any personal injury or property damage caused by You to any other member, guest or to the property of either. You further agree to indemnify and hold harmless Us for any loss caused by You for which We are held liable, including reasonable attorney’s fees.
